14 weeks

We have made it to the 14 week mark of this pregnancy. I am not battling the nausea as much as the previous weeks although I have been tired still. I had a little spotting and then starting having cramps last week along with some other pains in the lower abdominal area that were concerning. Over the weekend I was in alot more pain so I decided to call the dr. about it and saw her yesterday. She decided to do an ultrasound to check things out. She found a complication that we weren't prepared for. I have complete placenta previa which means that the baby's placenta is completely covering my cervix. This happens in about 1 in every 200 pregnancies. She said there is a possibility that it could "move" out of the way by the time we are ready to deliver but with it being completely covered the odds aren't as good. If it doesn't move then I will have to have a c-section to deliver the baby. I have been put on restrictions and am not able to pick up Aydin which isn't going to be easy; also on pelvic rest until they see if the placenta moves...so sorry to my poor hubby! On a happy note, the baby was moving around alot and waving in the ultrasound and looked great which is good news. We are going to do our best to be careful and hopefully avoid bed rest or being in the hospital which would be awful. I have to start the progesterone shots in 2 weeks also which I am not looking forward too. It looks like this pregnancy is turning out to be a little more complicated than it was with Aydin.

The baby is measuring about 3 1/2 inches now (about the size of a lemon) and weighs about 1.5 ounces. The baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck their thumb. The baby is kicking and punching away and more active now so possibly soon I will be able to feel all these movements. I hope for an easy week and no other surprises along the way. We could definitely use prayers for movement of the uterus so that the baby's placenta will then move away from my cervix and be much easier for us.

13 weeks

Today marks 13 weeks into the pregnancy with baby #2 and we are doing really well. I am still feeling nauseous but not quite as much as before. I am still kind of tired and don't have as much energy. So far I have gained 2 pounds but don't look very pregnant yet. In the mornings there is no baby belly but by night time I can see a difference. I am sure it will be growing faster soon though. I started showing around 20 weeks with Aydin but I hear it happens faster the second time around.
Right now the baby is about 3 inches long and weighs nearly an ounce. The baby's fingerprints have formed on it's fingers, the veins and organs are visible through the clear skin and the baby's body is catching up with it's head! We love hearing the baby's heartbeat with our doppler. Aydin loves it too...he brings it to me and says see baby. Too cute! We can't wait to find out if Aydin will have a baby brother or baby sister....getting closer...

12 weeks

We are now at the 12 week mark. I was hoping to be able to feel better now but I am still feeling pretty nauseous and tired. I believe that the nausea is mostly due to acid reflux so if it doesn't get better soon I will probably try to take some meds to help it.

The most dramatic development this week is our baby's reflexes. The baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, the toes will curl, the eye muscles will clench, and the mouth will make sucking movements. The baby's face is now looking unquestionably human. The baby is just over two inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs about half an ounce.

Our Weekend in LA

We had a good weekend back in LA. We drove in Thursday night and spent the day Friday visiting Dustin's grandpa, Pop Gus. Aydin loved seeing all his animals and had a great time! Friday night I went to a "Fun" party with my Best friend Kim. It was so hilarious and fun, we had a blast!

Saturday morning we drove to Houma to go to Jayden's 3rd birthday party. He had a great time playing with everyone. We visited my mom later that afternoon and Aydin loved playing with her animals too! Sunday, Mother's Day, we had to drive back home. It wasn't a fun trip back because Aydin wasn't feeling very well; like always when we visit LA! He had a couple tantrums on the ride home to deal with. Once we got back he had his worse tantrum ever. It lasted over an hour long and was awful! We made sure not to give in and all of a sudden he was back to his old self and apologized and gave us hugs and kisses. I have no idea what got into him but I really hope we are past it because it wasn't very fun, especially on Mother's Day!

Weekend plans

We will be heading to Louisiana today after work for a weekend visit. We hope to be able to see a good bit of family and friends while we are in town. We have Jayden's 3rd birthday party Saturday so I am sure Aydin will have a blast playing! I never looked forward to the drives to and from Louisiana when I was pregnant with Aydin and I don't really look forward to this one because I always have to stop for the bathroom which makes the trip even longer. Here's to a fun weekend!

Doctor's Appointment - 11 weeks

Today I had a doctor's appointment to discuss some things with my OB Dr. Mulder. They noticed that I had a bacterial infection at my last appt so they prescribed some medicine to me and after receiving it I noticed the pamplet that came with it warned to not take in the first three months of pregnancy due to the possibility of birth defects...I immediately started freaking out and decided not to take it, we talking about that today and the risks of not taking it versus taking another medicine so I will trust that she knows what she is doing and will begin taking it next week when I turn 12 weeks. Also, she wants to start me on weekly progesterone shots beginning at 16 weeks to prevent pre term labor & pre term rupture of membranes like I dealt with for Aydin. Pre-term labor started at 28 weeks with contractions everyday that caused me to go to the hospital and get shots and meds for that. My water broke at 36 weeks with Aydin and even though everything turned out fine she wanted to make sure that it doesn't start earlier this time...She said these shots are really painful so I need to be prepared for it which totally freaks me out but I guess it is best for the baby so we will make sure to do it no matter what! Lets hope the insurance will approve having a nurse come to our house weekly to do the shots because I really don't look forward to driving to the doctor's office every week to get a painful shot.

Aydin reading....

Aydin likes to read his books but I think he has his own language, I find him doing this often and it is so cute.....

11 Weeks

Today marks 11 weeks into this pregnancy with Baby #2. Time seems to be going by a little quicker now. I am still feeling really tired and nauseous alot of the time but I know a little more about what food triggers it so I stay away from that....we have another doctor's appointment with my OBGYN tomorrow. I have a home doppler like I did with Aydin so I can check on the baby when I want to and I was able to find the heartbeat starting about a week ago. It is still hard to catch it on video since I can tell the baby moves around alot. I will catch the heartbeat and then you hear a swoosh and it is gone.

The statistics for this week show that the baby is just over 1.5 inches long and about the size of a fig and is now almost fully formed. The baby is already busy kicking and stretching and the tiny movements are so effortless. In about a month or so I should definitely be able to feel the baby's movement. I remember feeling it starting with Aydin around 15 weeks and it was confirmed while listening with the doppler becasue I could hear it on the doppler and feel it so I may be able to feel this one a little sooner.

This is such a sweet sound:

Our weekend

This past weekend we decided to make use of our zoo membership and take Aydin to the zoo for Member Saturdays when the zoo opens an hour early for members. All of the animals were really active since it was feeding time and we got to get some great pictures; we usually get lots of pictures of sleeping animals but Saturday was different. The monkeys were especially active and it was neat to watch them jumping and howling. Aydin's favorite part of the zoo is always the fish. He could probably watch the fish swim for hours! Saturday evening we had friends over for a brisket cooked by Dustin which was great. Sunday we went to church and then to our friends, The Bernard's, house to have an afternoon pool party. Aydin loves their pool and has been begging to get in since winter so he was in heaven playing all day! We had a great weekend, but it definitely went by too fast....
